Short Biography of Harvey Simpson

What?

For the past twenty years Harvey Simpson has enjoyed a full time career of entertaining people of all ages with his close up, sleight of hand, balloon sculptures and stage magic.  As a husband and father of two girls, Harvey knows how to make families laugh.

Why?

It all started over twenty five years ago.  At the age of seven, Harvey saw the popular magician, Doug Henning, walk through a brick wall on national television.  He knew he wanted to try magic, but had no idea how to start.  His mother took him to the library the next day and he checked out every book they had on “magic.”  Harvey devoured the books and learned a few tricks, but more importantly he also checked out some books on the lives of famous magicians of the past.  He learned about Houdini, Dunninger, Thurston, Blackstone and the legendary French magician, Robert Houdin.
Reading about the lives of these famous magicians is what fueled his love for magic. Harvey dropped his dreams of becoming an astronaut (remember it was 1972) and began to study the art of magic and showmanship.

When?

Harvey paid his way through college performing magic at various private parties and long term “house magician” bookings at restaurants and night clubs in Orange County, California.  For several years Harvey associated with some of the biggest names in contemporary magic at the Magic Island, Newport Beach.  He found a mentor in close-up, club and stage magic.

Who?

A few years after leaving the Magic Island Harvey met a beautiful lady at a party where he was performing.  Denise, a born-again Christian, invited Harvey to church, where her father preached.  Harvey discovered God’s plan for salvation and began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, his Savior.  One year later Harvey married Denise.  Today they are the proud parents of Victoria and Noelle.

Where?

After Harvey married Denise, he got the inspiration to develop Gospel magic shows in private schools and churches.  Harvey has put together several different shows, all with different themes, but the central message of God’s love for his creation.  In addition to the Gospel shows, Harvey continues to perform in many different venues such as, fairs, trade-shows, park and recreation facilities, malls, public schools, libraries, restaurants and hotels.  Of course in these venues Harvey doesn’t preach during the shows, but provides wholesome family entertainment.
